Several of the above photos represent important memories my family has shared together. The first picture is from mine and Rachel's combined sweet 16. Since we are only one grade apart, we decided to share a big party with all of our friends and family! It was one of the best nights of my life. Our family was able to plan the event together from the caterers to the cakes all the way to the pictures that would be used for the montage. Our sweet 16 is a night we will truly cherish and remember!
The next picture is from a family vacation. Vacation time for my family is an extremely important and exciting time. We always sit down as a family and decide the next destination for us. Vacations are an ideal time to relax and enjoy the company of my family. Since both of my parents work, vacations are a perfect time to catch up on our lives and share the infinite laughs and memories. My entire family appreciates vacation time and we all use this time wisely. We wake up early and as a family attend the gym and then breakfast. We later make our way down to the beach where we lay in the sun and go in the water together. It's then dinner time and usually a family activity comes along after. This past December break, my family and I found a new interest for pool. We played every night and divided ourselves up into two teams. These memories are ones I truly cherish and will never forget.
Another photo is a picture of my mom, dad and I the day of my graduation. This picture is important as it represents a time of change and independence. My graduation was sentimental and exciting, as I am the eldest daughter of my family and the first child to be sent off to college. After my graduation ceremony, my family hosted a large party in my backyard with all of our family and friends. The planning of this party required all of us to work together and cooperate so our ideas could come together. The party ended up being a huge success and all of our family and friends had the best night!
The next picture is the Warren family in front of the Emory gate. This gate symbolizes a new chapter of my life, as well as my parents. This gate symbolizes independence and walking into a new place. It shows me leaving behind my past and starting something brand new. This picture was taken during move in day and it is framed in my living room. During this time, my parents were very upset and lonely. They felt like they were leaving a part of them behind. Throughout the semester at Emory, they have realized that this is a natural progression of life and it is preparing me for adulthood.
The next picture is The New York Times building. This building is important to my family, as my mother has worked at this building for most of her life. She has worked at the company ever since I was born and we have visited several times throughout our years. I love going to her office building and sitting at her desk. Her secretary knows our family very well and I love being able to sit in on her meetings. During my senior year of high school, my mom allowed my We The People debate class to take a tour of The New York Times building and sit in on a meeting. This meeting was extremely interesting as we were video chatting with people from all over the United States as well as other countries, such as France and England. The meeting was about the most important events of the current day and what viewers would most like to see on page 1 of The New York Times. For my mom, her office is her second home!
Many of the pictures I chose for my artifact represent important memories for my family. Most of them are vacation pictures and I chose these because vacations for my family are a great time to relax and rejoice. We get to enjoy each others company and catch up on our lives since we are a very busy family. Vacations are a great way for us to spend quality time together and we all extremely value these times.
